There are a couple of important differences between acoustic guitars and electric guitars. While playing the chords and notes is done in essentially the same way, the creation of the sound itself as well as the build of the guitar differs quite extensively. Electric guitars do not have a sound hole for their strings to vibrate over. Instead, they are plugged into an amp so that their sound can be created electronically. As a result, instead of being hollow like the acoustic guitars, electric guitars are usually made from solid wood.
Due to the logistics of needing multiple amps, we will be using acoustic guitars in our class.
