Posture and Hand Position
Playing with proper posture and hand position are essential for developing proper playing technique. When these things are disregarded, it can lead to unnecessary strain, pain, and a potentially lesser quality of playing.

- Leaning over is fine as long as you are not going so far that you'll strain your back.
- Avoid hugging the guitar to close into your body. This will restrict your movement.
- It is often a good idea to play with a footstool so that your guitar guitar and be angled upwards.
- Angling the guitar upwards allows for a more natural positioning of the left hand.
- Make sure your left hand is not angled to the point where you are straining it.
- Ensure that your thumb is resting at the back of your guitar's neck.
- When pressing down the strings, use your finger tips. This will allow you to be quite precise.
- Your right arms should come over the top of the guitar in a relaxed manner that allows you to rest your right thumb or pick on the low E string.
- Above all else: avoid tension.
